Happy New Year to my friends and readers!  Hope the end of 2012 was a good one for you and 2013 is starting on a happy note.  I had a four day weekend planned with my husband and my daughter, but unfortunately, plans didn’t turn out the way we wanted, so it was a different one, that’s for sure.   Tomorrow I go back to work, on my first wedding anniversary.  Our celebrations plans have been put on hold…  temporarily.

As usual, my thoughts have turned to what a wonderful year 2012 was for me.  I moved, I got married, I started a new job…  I love my new home, I love my husband, and I love my job.  I got a new car, but sad to say, it is dying on me, so that one is a bust.  I enjoyed a great vacation at Disney with my husband and my 9 year old daughter, the first real vacation I have had in years.  I lost weight, I started working on a tan, I started dressing better, and taking more care about how I look.  I didn’t have to deal with any surgeries with any family members (thank goodness) and only had one sad note when my aunt passed away a few months ago.  I can say for my lifetime that 2012 was a VERY good year for me.

I never make New Year’s resolutions because I can never keep them.  I read somewhere recently that resolutions aren’t really goals, but more of a wish…  like winning a million dollar lottery (wouldn’t that be grand?).  But I think I did win the lottery last year.  My personal life is so much better now.  My husband says the dark circles are gone from under my eyes and I can actually fall asleep now and stay asleep through the night.  That is a major accomplishment for me.

So my “wish” for 2013 is to continue loving my husband, loving my job, and my home, and my family.  I do believe that those may be resolutions that I can keep {heehee}.  I have a desire to lose more weight and rebuild my tan back up that I’ve already lost before winter is even started good.  Those are good possibilities of accomplishments in 2013.  The one that I have been slacking on though is keeping with my blog.  The last year I just haven’t had time for it.  I leave for work just after 8am every weekday morning and sometimes I don’t get home until 8pm.  Barely enough time to eat a hot meal, spend quality time with my husband and my daughter before it’s light’s out by 9pm, maybe 10pm.  I miss my blog.  I miss getting inspired to write, of sharing my thoughts, even though sometimes they are just drivel.  I miss reading other’s blogs and trying to be interactive, and I miss all the social media happenings.

So my biggest 2013 resolution, or wish, is to be more in tune with my blog and keeping that silly little girl happy.

See you around the Blogosphere!

Love Drop is a micro-giving network of people who unite as a community to make a difference in the lives of one person or family a month. By giving just $1.00, they make it easy for their members to change lives in a fun and super easy way.

At the end of every month, Nate and J$ show up in the town the families live in and present them with everything the team raised — all the money, the gifts, whatever the community helped get. It’s all on film, and it all ends with us making a difference! (And then it starts all over again the next month).

This month we are coming together for 2 beautiful kids with severe autism — Ethan & Alex. Our goal is to raise $13,000 on behalf of 4 Paws for Ability so that we can place a highly trained service dog with their family (the dog is completely free, but the training that goes into it is very very expensive). And if possible, three iPads so they can all communicate better with each other (Alex is completely non-verbal). Here are 3 ways you can help:

  1. Join the team – This is the best way to help out, and all it takes is $1.00.
  2. Join our blogger network – Blog about our Love Drops each month like I am 🙂 It’s easy, it’s rewarding, and it REALLY helps spread the word (which in turn helps our families). Love Drop will give you all the content you need.
  3. Give a gift or provide a service – Gift cards (iTunes would be great!), two iPads (so we can help the boys speak again!), and anything else you think could help out.
Thank you guys so much — You rock.

I wrote a post recently about Letter Writing and I have received my first pen pal letters.  I signed up on several sites:  Swap-Bot, Postcrossing, Sandbook, Lettersets, and Friendships By Mail.  So far, I already have a handful of pen pals lined up and I’m happily letter-writing away.  I have also registered my daughter for a pen pal.  I can’t wait to get that started.

Yesterday, I received my first postal pen pals from Swap-Bot.

My daughter and I were very excited when we saw the envelopes in the mailbox.

We opened the big envelope first.  This one was from my 20 Facts Swap on Swap-Bot.com.  The writer is a newly married, young lady from Illinois.  She sent two postcards from Chicago.  It was a lot of fun reading about all the things she likes.  My daughter was giddy over some of the things, like Hello Kitty and fingernail polish.  It’s not a requirement for me to write her back, but I think I will.  Sounds like she could be a great pen-pal.

Then we opened the second letter with the brightly decorated envelope.  This letter was from a lady closer to my age living in Ohio.  It was a well-written 5 page letter introducing herself, and I’m very pleased to say she is definitely someone that I think I can correspond with on a regular basis.

I have a valentine swap that I’m participating in.  I have collected some valentiney things to create a card with.  Now all I have to do is sit down and start creating the card.  Right now, I have no ideas, but I’m sure something will come to me very soon.

I can’t wait to get more letters.  This is going to be an exciting adventure.
