Tell Me Thursday

If you came by yesterday and saw my Wordless Wednesday post, you saw a bird sitting on a bird bath. The bird is a female cardinal, and she would come out in the evenings for food on the bird feeder.
But only after “Daddy” had been by to check things out and give the all clear.
Unfortunately, the squirrels destroyed my fancy smanchy birdfeeder. ![]()
So we had to get a “squirrel proof” birdfeederl
Unfortunately, “Mama” doesn’t like it. I watched her for a couple of days trying to get food out of the bird feeder, but she just couldn’t manage. She would just flap her wings trying to land on the shorter pegs.
So here is the photo I posted yesterday. Here she is sitting on the bird bath.
Can you see what she is looking at? Look in the far left middle of the photo.
Do you see it?
Wait for it!
It’s Daddy!
He brought the food to her.
Isn’t that about the sweetest thing? When I saw she was having trouble getting the food, I went out and sprinkled a little on the ground. Then I sat with my camera on the tripod with the remote in my hand, about 10-12 feet away, and waited. I really thought she would go after the food, but Daddy went scouting for it and brought it to her. I stood there in awe and wonder as he flew back and forth several times dropping food in her mouth. I think I read somewhere that cardinals are monogomous for life. ”Daddy” is a very good provider. I’ve watched him chase away some other bigger, male cardinals and, boy, he is tough.
It’s a wonder that these pictures turned out at all, they aren’t great, but I just kept clicking the button during the whole scene, hoping to get a few good shots. I was thrilled at the way they turned out
I hope you have enjoyed my Bird Love Story. Happy Thursday to all.

Great pictures, and a very nice story.
We have the same problem as yours. We put the feeder and countless birds come to our deck… until the squirrels arrive and destroy everything!
