It’s a Party at 5 Minutes for Mom all week

Happy Friday, Ya’ll. Isn’t it a beautiful first day of spring? I am blogging today about the 2009 Ultimate Blog Party at 5 Minutes for Mom. I hope you can take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to stop by their party and look at their great prizes they are giving away, and join in to make some new friends.
My name is Karen and I’m a 46 year old single mom to a beautiful 5 year old daughter, Leah Rose. She is a bright and energetic preschooler that keeps me on my toes. I also have a 21 year old son, Ted, that I’m very proud of. He is an aircraft mechanic, owns his first home, and single. I live in Central Georgia, called the Heart of Georgia, in my hometown, Warner Robins. I’m an only child, but have dozens of aunts and uncles and cousins, most of which live somewhere in the surrounding counties. I usually see them once a year at the family reunion.

I work full-time as an Administrative Assistant for a technology services company. I’ve been working for them almost 13 years now, and I really enjoy my work and I enjoy working with my co-workers. I have been working in the clerical/administrative field since High School when I was in the Vocational Office Training (VOT) program.
Web design and graphics is my favorite hobby. I’m basically self-taught and I would love to do this for a living. I can sit at the computer all day long playing in Paint shop Pro and FrontPage. I lose all sense of time and then find myself all stoved up from sitting too long. I also crochet, mostly for charity purposes, sew, needlework (mostly cross stitch), and I’ve even dabbled a little in making jewelry, pins and necklaces.
I have been blogging off an on for a couple of years, and I enjoy it, mostly because I “think” I like writing. Some days I’m very creative, and some days it just doesn’t come to me. I’ve shared some of my poetry on my blog here, if you would like to take a peek. I do enjoy reading other people’s personal blogs, and I really love comments for my visitors. I always try to stop by and leave a comment at my visitor’s blogs. I also love “memes” and spend a lot of time searching for them and trying to keep up. That takes a lot of work! Lol.
I don’t consider myself much of a photographer, but I love to take pictures. I have an HP Photosmart M415 and a Canon FS100 digital video camcorder that I got for Christmas and I’m still trying to figure out how to use it. I’m looking forward to trying to capture the changes from winter to spring this year. My challenge to myself this year is to take photos of my daughter, maybe not on a daily basis, but at least 3 or 4 days out of the week. I didn’t do that as often as I should have when she was an infant/toddler, but I’m determined now to digitally record her growth into a young woman, who can do and be anything that she sets her mind to.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you have learned a little more about me and will come back often to read my blog. I’ll be blogging each day and sharing a little more of the things that I do until March 27th, and then of course, March 28th is my birthday! Don’t forget to stop by 5 Minutes for Mom for the week party.
